What the Hay!

Who doesn't enjoy the smell of fresh mown hay? We only had a 5% chance of rain or so the dam weatherman said. With NO rain for a few days listed so we cut the upper pasture to get it out of the way.

Then this SHIT pops up on the radar heads our way! There is something mysterious about the I-35 corridor that kills off or diminishes storms. We lucked out! The radar said we were getting rained on but it stayed dry here.

We've had so much rain here... the high ground is dry enough to cut so we're getting it done.

Good to hear you are finally getting some summer weather. What size of bales do you compact the hay into? I used to dread haying season with the small square bales and only manual labor. Hay fever made everything worse. It was sunny and 82F here on Saturday, and headed to 84F today, with chance of showers and rain tonight and Monday. We need it.

These are the dreaded small squares for the horses that run about 65-70 pounds. He has to get them baled before Wednesday or he won't have me. Thursday I am gone to the Drs.

haying time back when i was on the farm was bales or loose. we did not have the big round bales that have today. lots of hot hard work. no matter how hot it was outside the hay had to get into the barn. do you have round bales also? hope everything is ok at the doctors.
Yes. most of our hay is done in 1500 lb big rounds, however, we have the weather and the manpower on our side and will try to do small squares out of this batch for the horses.

After being so wet for May it has now turned hot and dry. 90's and no rain forecast for 10 days. If you get any, please share!!
I don't remember you mentioning help bale hay. You stack the bales on the rack or have a kicker on the baler?
